As I meet with families who've lost a loved one and glance at the messages they and friends write on our Condolences page, I'm struck by the poignancy and beauty of their feelings, memories and words. These are important, not so much for the deceased, but for the living. It's an opportunity to be thankful for another human life that made an impact in the community and the family of the deceased. After witnessing such expressions of love and affection, I'm often left with gratitude for the privilege of having shared in such a moment. Even in times of sorrow and anguish, families and friends still have the capacity and the desire to express what's most important in life-love. That's a blessing to me and all who minister with me in caring for families who've lost a loved one.
